Take a villager on a perfect date, or tag along to one. Location and expressions are all-important.
Target your chosen villager and press Y to find out their favorite location, expression and gift. Make them follow you and take them to their favorite place, then perform their favorite expression and make it perfect(which will get you The Show-off achievement as well). Giving them their favorite gift may also help.
